Wedding Cake - Traditional or Creative?

Dear Dr. Dave & Dr. Dee,

Both my fiance and I love chocolate and want to have a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting for our wedding cake. My mother-in-law-to-be has more than once suggested that we stick with a traditional white wedding cake, saying that fads are not appropriate for weddings. Is having a chocolate cake a fad, or would it be fine for a wedding cake?

Wedding cakes can be designed in many different colors, shapes, and sizes. There is no need to switch to a traditional white wedding cake given you and your fiance had planned to have a chocolate covered cake.
