Sympathy Card Belated Fine

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

Is it okay to mail a sympathy card to a friend whose husband passed away over six months ago? I had sent out holiday cards, but just now received a note stating that she did not send out Christmas cards this season because her husband had died. Is there a time when it is too late to mail sympathy cards?

It is never too late to send a note expressing your condolences. Even if years have gone by, and you had just heard the sad news, a card or letter would be appreciated. It lets your friend know that you are thinking of her and wishing her the best.
