My husband went shopping for new clothes for work, and came home with lots of colorful shirts with socks to match. The sales lady told him that it was fine to match his socks to his shirt. I always thought that socks were supposed to match the pants. Is that now an outmoded concept?

Dear Old-Fashioned,
Matching socks to pants is not an outmoded concept. For business or office attire, socks should be similar in color to the trousers. If casually dressed, socks can match the shirt.
