Glove Lengths for Wedding Dress

I would really like to wear gloves with my wedding dress. How long should the gloves be, over my elbows?

Dear Love gloves,

The length of the gloves depends on the length of the sleeve. Basically, the shorter the sleeve, the longer the glove. Over-the-elbow gloves look best with strapless and sleeveless gowns.

Below are some glove guidelines from the Massachusetts Wedding Guide at www.mawweddingguide.com:

1. Brides with full upper arms should wear a pair of gloves that stop at their elbows. They should not wear over-the-elbow gloves.

2. A petite bride should avoid wearing over-the-elbow gloves.

3. Short-sleeved gown, wear wrist length gloves.

4. Cap-sleeved gown, wear elbow length gloves.

5. Strapless gown, wear over-the-elbow gloves.

6. Long sleeved gown, do not wear gloves at all.
