Funeral Donation Request In Lieu of Flowers

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

I've lost about 20 pounds, which was my goal. But, my stomach area is still flabby. I do stomach crunches, so what more can I do?

Is it customary for granddaughters or even a daughter to make a donation, when the newspaper says in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to......? Or, is a monetary donation only meant for folks other than family members?

When a request is made to make a donation in lieu of flowers, then family members and friends may make a donation.
