Phone Call Wouldn't Hurt

Dear Dr. Dave and Dr. Dee,

I'm a 15-year-old boy, in "love" with a 13-year-old girl, "Jane," whom I met two summers ago at camp. We had a two week fling at that camp, and then parted at the end. I haven't seen her for a year and a half, except for when I ran into her a few months ago, briefly. I'd love to see her again, and recently came across her phone number. Should I call out of the blue? Will it be too strange?

Signed,

Eager

Dear Eager,

Since you ran into her a few months ago, how did she seem? If she still acted like she wanted to be friends, then call. If she acted like she wanted to avoid you, then don't. If you're not sure, it never hurts to simply call, as long as you don't currently have a girlfriend. Don't pressure Jane into a relationship, just try to re-establish contact, be friends, and go from there.
